Jason Mercier triumphed over a field of 100 players to be crowned winner of the WSOP 2016 Deuce Seven Lowball No Limit Poker Tournament. This is his fourth WSOP bracelet and the win gives him a take home amount of $273,335. He entered the final day as chip leader and continued his climb to number one. But it was not so simple. As the heads up came about, Mike Watson was chip leader by 4:3 chips. Mercier managed a comeback within an hour and took a 2:1 chip lead against Watson. Mercier sent Watson to runner up with 8, 6, 5, 4 and a 2. Watson collects $168,936 for his efforts.
The top finishers were:
Jason Mercier $273,335
Michael Watson $168,936
Lamar Wilkinson $120,025
David Grey $86,302
Benny Glaser $62,810
Stephen Chidwick $46,277
Alexandre Luneau $34,522
Interesting note is that Vanessa Selbst made a bet while drinking of 180:1 Odds of Mercier winning three bracelets. The bet made in January 2016 was $10,000. If he gets another bracelet, he will win $1.8 million from Selbst. There are many tournaments left. Will he get lucky?
