From a field of 667 entries to one winner, Kyle Julius has one the first bracelet of the WSOP 2016 in the Top Up Turbo No Limit Holdem event. This is the first bracelet of his professional poker career and he lands a first place prize of $142,972.
The Top Up Turbo No Limit Holdem structure was unusual in that players could double their chip stacks from sit n go tourneys at the Rio or online. They could also purchase additional chips for $1000. About half of the players elected for additional chips bringing the total pool to $681,000. Innovation has been key with use of online tournaments and entries. Most of the tournaments have online registration as well.

It was a brief round though with Julius going all-in with a 4 pair against Lybaerts King of clubs, nine of hearts. Join Americas Cardroom

America’s Cardroom is featuring the Freebuy Superseries till March 6, 2016. This is a very challenging poker tournament. You get a free seat to any tournament but after that it’s up to you. Your free seat will give 1000 chips. The type of series is a rebuy/addon. If you’re lucky you can do well with little investment. If not beware of the all-ins that plague this type of tournament.
There are many people new to poker who jump at the chance to win for very little and there are alot of all-in rounds. You never know – you might get lucky. The Freebuy Super Series attracts alot of players so the tournaments last a long time 6-8 hours. But again it’s worth it if you’re lucky and swerve through all the curve balls.
There are all ranges of games from a low of .25 cents rebuy/addon for the $500 guaranteed to the Sunday Main event, a $20,000 guaranteed freebuy tournament with rebuy/addons of$20. And there’s also a leaderboard. This little incentive will give points for top finishers.
For the top finisher the prize is $500 in cash. The formula is factor of entrants, position finished with rebuys factor. And other prizes are from $350 to $10. If you love playing poker this is a great way to get in some good money with little cost. One example is the $3000 guaranteed March2, 2016 with rebuy/addon of $2.00 – if needed. Again, you may swerve through all the curve balls and come out winner.
America’s Cardroom is the up and coming US cardroom. With on demand sit’n go tournaments, a weekly $100,000 tournament, several daily tourneys up to $25,000 and lots of satellites and freerolls. It’s a great place because you can join a game anytime. The software is excellent.

During a poker tournament if you look at the amount of players during the entry period, it’s usually small. As the entry period starts to close ,in the last several rounds, more and more people fill up the seats. Many people don’t want to bet with the small amounts of pots when the tournament is starting and prefer to wait till the pots get substantial. This often works out well for sharks who re-raise or a good bluffers and can poke their way around a table. But it doesn’t always work. Furthermore, as the tournament progresses, there are usually several high chip stacked players who will remain that way throughout the entire tournament. It’s true it’s time to buckle down after the early stages but those enter late tend to risk more and don’t always win.

Early Stages
Early stage accumulation is one of the smartest ways to go. If you’re on the ball it’s great way to get to heads up or at least final table. Why? If you bet less you keep more chips and risk less than those who enter late and are counting on a pair of aces or ace king or bluffing to bail them out. Getting in early also has an advantage that you can see who you’re playing against. If you are member of an online poker casino and there are regulars you might know their style of play. Some bet only when they have something others will throw a curve ball and bet with nothing. It’s part of the game. Getting in early in tournament means you can have a ace pair that doesn’t amount to a hill of beans and still keep going if it loses while the late entry person will probably go all-in and lose everything if it should lose. Getting in early gives you the advantage of less risky chip accumulation as well as getting a heads up on your fellow players.

Middle Stages
The middle stage of the tournament is much the same but there are sometimes more changes. The late entry person is usually scrambling for chips less they get eaten up by the blinds and more prone to go all-in at the first sign of a good hand usually a single high card. Here is another benefit of getting in early. You may play and ace 6 combo or fold and you may be right. There is little choice for the late entry dude he must play or potentially bust. It’s great to be in relaxed position at the table. Here if someone raises extremely high and you know there a bluffer you can call . Likewise, when you get a high full house, you can raise as well. Great hands do come for everyone in a tournament it’s just a matter of timing and putting the cards into play.
And one strategy to think about is waiting . Yeh. Don’t try to size up all hands sometimes it’s not worth it to see if your hand ‘could be’. Don’t risk sit out and wait. I used this strategy all the way to a final table after an inital run up and it really works. Let the other players go in. It may their cycle anyway. Your chip stack might go lower, but you’re still in the game and some great hands could be coming your way. You’re not guaranteed to be dealt a winning hand every round!

This is the major reason you want to get in early. You’re not guaranteed a winning hand every round but if you’re in early you can get enough of a chipstack to go the distance and get the heads up or at least final table.

Americas Cardroom is holding its first High Five tournament of the year. It’s a great way to get in with small buy-ins from satellites as low as .25 cents and up. Over $840,000 in prize pools are on the table for the taking. And there will be winners. It may as well be you. Bonuses for first timers are in effect, up to $1000. So you can get money back from that as well.

It’s extremely competitive and the tournaments have many players. Give yourself 8 to 10 hours and the amount of players is around 2000 per tourney. Some of the tournaments are going over their original prize pool. It’s a very exciting place to be. The tournament schedule is below and include Pot Luck Omaha, PLO, tourneys as well.

You can choose from a variety of tournaments including satellites, rebuys addons, regular and super satellites. The concluding tourney is a $420,000 Super tournament on January 24th.
